Born In the USA

Much has been made on the internet about President Obama’s citizenship and his right to hold office under the Constitution.  Regardless of your political persuasion, or your disagreement with the policies of the administration, the facts contradict the assertions being made by what the left has now labeled ”the birther movement” in an effort to discredit legitimate descent.

1.  The Supreme Court of the United States has denied all the applications to hear cases related to President Obama’s citizenship and no applications are pending.

Philip Berg, a Pennsylvania attorney who described himself as a lifelong Democrat, filed suit in federal court on August 21, 2008 claiming that Barack Obama was not eligible to be President of the United States because he was not a “natural born” citizen.

The court has had three and only three cases on its docket pertaining to Obama’s citizenship:

In the matter of Philip J. Berg, Petitioner v. Barack Obama, et al.

      No. 08-570              Dec 23 2008      DISTRIBUTED for Conference of January 16, 2009.

                                         Jan 12 2009      Petition DENIED.

Jan 21 2009      Application (08A505) denied by the Court.

No. 08A391              Nov 3 2008       Application (08A391) denied by Justice Souter.

     No. 08A505             Dec 23 2008      DISTRIBUTED for Conference of January 16, 2009.

Jan 21 2009      Application (08A505) denied by the Court.

2.  The Associated Press (AP) has not filed any stories supporting allegations made by any sources that the President is not a citizen.   Looking at the dateline on many of the internet emails, most of these stories appear to be April Fools jokes.

3.  At the time these emails first showed up on the internet, the group, American for Freedom of Information, did not exist.  Now a website,  has taken up the name and proclaims, “You know, when a group like ours that does not exist sets out to not-actually release a report containing an utter lack of an Occidental College transcript for Barack Obama, it just amazes me.”

4.  President Obama’s records at Occidental College are still sealed and no such transcripts have been released.   When asked if the future President used the Obama or Soetoro name at the college, the spokesperson said that although he had not seen the sealed transcripts he had seen a 1981 photo book that was handed out to students and faculty at the beginning of the college year with student photos, names and hometown information.  The 1981 photo book had “Barack Obama” under the student’s photo and indicated a home state as Hawaii.

5.  There is no “Fulbright Foundation” but there is a Fulbright program that is sponsored by the US Department of State and does award scholarship grants, but only to students working towards higher degrees who already have a Bachelor of Arts degree.

6.  Hawaiian Health Department Director, Dr. Chiyome Fukino and Alvin Onaka, who is the Registrar of Vital Statistics, were both quoted in the Associated Press and the Honolulu Advertiser on November 1, 2008.  They both stated that they had reviewed the original document.  Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”

The conservative movement is shooting itself in the foot by continuing to use invented news stories without sufficient backup or proof.  It allows the left to cast aspersions on the good work that is being done by patriots attempting to prevent the growth of government and the eventual slippery slope to European Socialism.  This is not to say that Obama’s lack of transparency should not be questioned.  Questions must be asked!  Let’s just stick to the truth.  There is enough of that to set us free.♣
